We Couldn’t Do It Without Our Volunteers!
At Flicks, we rely on our loyal volunteers to ensure the festival runs smoothly, that our audience is comfortable and that our filmmakers are excited to be part of our festival! Volunteering is a great way to participate in a community-based event and gain invaluable leadership and teamwork skills. Not to mention the perks of volunteering:
- you can view films while you are working
- you can help young people learn and create in workshops
- you can learn about the filmmaking process while helping out at the workshops
- you receive a pair of complimentary tickets to a screening of your choice
That said, with volunteering comes responsibility. We require our volunteers to be committed to their scheduled times and tasks, to arrive at their venue on time and to make sure they don’t forget their responsibilities while they’re having so much fun! The time commitment is up to you so make sure you pace yourself when you volunteer and choose the tasks that interest you the most.
To become a member, drop by the office and meet with our Venue / Volunteer Coordinator to fill out a Volunteer Application Form and learn all about Flicks. Please note, in order to ensure the safety of the young people that attend the festival, we require that all volunteers submit to a criminal record check. It doesn’t cost you a thing, it’s quick and easy, and as soon as we get the okay from the Saskatoon Police, we’ll get you started!
If you want more information on volunteering, e-mail us at flicksfilmfestival@sasktel.net (write VOLUNTEER in the subject line) or call our office at 306 956-3456.
